Shaista Bharwani discusses shoes and trends with accessory designer Neomy Khatau.


What is your new collection about and how does it reflect the latest trends?
This season, metallic colours, golds, greys and black are very in. The slide shoe is fashionable with western outfits and the traditional slip-on is great with Indian. Gladiators are also very hip. Thongs and wedges are trendy as well. We have all these styles in our latest collection



How do you keep yourself updated on international and domestic trends?
There are specific websites we follow and we also industry-specific publications that are printed every 6 months. We keep track of what’s happening and what is about to happen.


Do you have a favourite design in your creations? What is most popular?
One of the most popular styles is one in which we use payals for the embellishment, around the side of the shoe. My favourite shoe is a three inch stiletto with interwoven materials in different colours.


What are your future plans?
We hope to continue reaching out to clients and making shoes that are beautiful and comfortable. We also hope to ultimately have our own store.
