A love for photography led him to switch careers and try his luck behind the lens.

What made you first pick up the camera?

After having worked on 1,000 advertisements as a coordinator, I decided to try my hand at the camera, as a fashion photographer. I have always found photography to be a very creative and challenging profession.

How did you work towards being a professional photographer?

It was a long and hard journey. I had to collect money to buy my camera, there were a lot of sacrifices involved. I even did a course but left midway because I wanted to get hands-on experience instead of sitting in a classroom. I called a model friend and shot him and took the images back to class. From that point on, there was no looking back – the first girl who I shot landed the Sunsilk campaign thanks to the portfolio images.

What are some of your most memorable shoots?

Some of them are: my first professional shoot, and another shoot that I did with vintage cars, at a farm house. Also on the list are portfolio shoots with Sonal Chauhan, Vidya Malvade, Yana Gupta, Indrani Dasgupta and some others.

If you were not a photographer, what would you choose to be?

I would probably have a business of my own, or work in the airline industry.

How would you describe your photography style?

I try to keep a balance between lighting, composition and concept. I want people to see my images and say one word – WOW!

What advice would you give to aspiring photographers?

Shoot sensibly, create your own good aesthetic and remember – the camera may be a tool to show the world what your eye sees, but it is the thoughts in your mind that come through the strongest.
